One of the easiest way to start testing IC Robotics, if you do not use one of the e-commerce systems we integrate with, is to upload data manually from Excel or CSV files.
It is a fairly easy process of uploading data. It is a simple 2-step process, where you can either (2.a) upload single item files or (2.b) multiple items in a single file.
1. Set up a test data integration
2.a Upload a single item file
2.b Upload a multiple item file
1. Set up a test data integration
In order to add data from an Excel or CSV file, you will first need to set up a test data integration:
Go to Data (the burger on the left on the home page).
Click on the '+ Integration'-button on the left.
In the pop-up, you will have to choose 'test data' as the integration type, and simply give the integration a suitable name.
Now that you have created your integration, you are able to add your data.
âšī¸ Tip: You can always add more integrations later.
2.a Upload a single item file
In order to add data from a single item excel or CSV file, you will need to follow the strict format of our Excel example file.
đđŧ Find the example file here
It is important that you fill out all three columns for all the data variables rows with the 'Name', where you can use the underscore to subcategories the data variables (read more on naming variables), which allows you to organize the data, the 'Value' of the variable, and 'Type', which is important for the different ways you can work with your variables (the example file provide you with some explanation).
When you have organized the file according to the example file, you can click the 'Browse'-button on the integration card to find your file on your computer.
Once you've chosen your file, you are able to click the 'Upload'-button and the file will shortly appear in the list on the left side of the integration card.
đ You are now ready to set up your template or add more files.
âšī¸ Tip: You can âī¸ an item on the list of uploaded data, which means that this item's data will appear when you open your template.
2.b Upload a multiple item file
You are able to add a multiple item excel or CSV file, where each row represents an item and the first row the name of the data variable, like this:
In order to upload this kind of file, you simply have to click the 'Browse'-button on the integration card to find your file on your computer.
Once you've chosen your file, you are able to click the 'Upload'-button.
This will open a pop-up, where you have to map all your different data variables with the different data types, which is important for the ways you can work with your variables.
Remember to choose a data variable to represent 'Id' and a 'Reference Name', which is used when you later have to look up items when working with your template.
Once you've mapped all your variables, you are able to click the 'Upload'-button on the bottom right corner and after a short while - dependent on your file size - the items will appear in the list on the left side of the integration card.
đ You are now ready to set up your template or add more files.
âšī¸ Tip: You can âī¸ an item on the list of uploaded data, which means that this item's data will appear when you open your template.
