Here are some of the common issues if the changes you make in the template do not appear on your website - and how to fix it.
It is a good idea to start by checking your Publication Stats. Here you can see the last time there was generated a text to your website. You can even look up the specific product.
Remember! If there are a lot of products it can take some time for the software to send all the texts to your website.
Below you see the most typical reasons why changes do not go through on your website.
- You did not save the changes in the template
- You did not republish the template
- You did not activate the webhook in your CMS
You need to do all these three steps every time you make any changes in your template - and it must be done in this exact order.
Let us take a look at how you do troubleshooting in cases where you make changes in your template but they do not appear on your website.
Did you save the changes in your template?
It seems like a foolish thing to point out, but we promise you; that it is very normal to forget this step. Until we get automatic save in the software (soon hopefully) you need to manually click on "Save changes" in the template every time you make any changes.
The small but important button appears just below the menu when you make any changes.
As a help, we have made sure that there will open up a box with a warning if you try to leave the template without saving.
We hope that this will ensure that you can skip this step and go to the next.
✅ You have saved the changes in the template - then go to the next step.
❌ You have not saved the changes in the template - then try to do so and come back if it does not help.
Did you republish your template?
It is a very common error that you forget to publish your template after saving your template and before activating the webhook. If you have not republished the template the software will not know that there is a new text ready to send to your CMS.
Please check if you have republished your template. If there is an orange exclamation mark next to "Status" then there are changes in the template that have not been republished.
If there is a green check mark next to "Status" then the template has been republished with the latest changes.
Not sure how to republish a template? Take a look at "How do I publish my template?".
✅ You have republished the template - then go to the next step.
❌ You have not republished the template - then try to do so and come back if it does not help.
Did you activate the webhook?
Sometimes it is easy to forget that you must activate the webhook in your CMS before the software sends texts to your website.
A webhook will in most cases be: a product has been created or a product has been updated.
Please check if this step has been made.
✅ You have activated the webhook - then go to the next step.
❌ You did not activate the webhook - then try to do so.
